In addition to the hands-on learning you’d expect from lifesaving training, our courses incorporate all-new realistic live-action videos that show real-life scenarios to help improve skill mastery and retention. Our video-enhanced training is designed to drive consistency in both course delivery and the student learning experience. Students also have digital access to new easy-to-reference eBooks and the Red Cross First Aid app, which put lifesaving information at the students’ fingertips after completion of the course.

Medical Courses
American Red Cross provides a comprehensive medical training program that leads to a 2-year certificate. Our program is designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge required to provide emergency medical care. Upon completion, you will be eligible for Continuing Education Units, which will ensure that you remain up-to-date with the latest developments in your industry.
CPR/First Aid/AED
The First Aid/CPR/AED program is designed to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach
participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person when minutes
matter, and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. Adult and pediatric classes are available.
CPR/AED for
Professional Rescuers
The primary purpose of the courses in the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers program trains participants with the knowledge and skills needed to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies for adults, children, and infants until advanced emergency medical services (EMS) professionals take over.
Anaphylaxis & Epinephrine
Auto-Injector Skill Boost
After completing this module, participants will be able to describe anaphylaxis, differentiate between an allergic reaction and anaphylaxis, apply the emergency action steps to an anaphylaxis emergency, demonstrate how to administer an epinephrine auto-injector.
Longfellow’s WHALE Tales
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Longfellow’s WHALE Tales Water Safety for Children program is for use as a drowning prevention initiative to reduce drowning incidents among children in kindergarten through 5th grade. This program is composed of nine unique water safety lessons to educate young children in a dryland (non-pool)/classroom environment, with support for teachers, youth leaders and others teaching children about safe behaviors in, on and around the water. WHALE is an acronym for Water Habits Are Learned Early.
Basic Life Support
The Basic Life Support (BLS) course provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to assess, recognize and care for patients who are experiencing respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest, airway obstruction or opioid overdose. The course emphasizes providing high-quality care and integrating psychomotor skills with critical thinking and problem solving to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Babysitter's Training
To provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid.
Asthma Inhaler Training
Skill Boost
After completing this module, participants will be able to describe asthma and an asthma attack understand general care for asthma, apply the emergency action steps to an asthma attack, administer quick-relief medication using an inhaler with a spacer, administer quick-relief medication via nebulizer.
Water Safety Presentations
Identify and discuss water safety tips that help people stay safe in, on or around the water. Identify and discuss water safety tips for specific aquatic environments, including home pools, hot tubs, waterparks and lakes and rivers.

Administering Emergency
Oxygen (AEO) Skill Boost
This skill boost for administering emergency oxygen provides training in the use of advanced resuscitation and airway management equipment, including oxygen delivery systems, suctioning devices and basic airways. The training gives participants the skills and knowledge needed to safely and effectively: administer emergency oxygen to a person experiencing a breathing emergency, clear and maintain an open airway using suctioning or a basic airway device.
Life-Threatening Bleeding and
Tourniquet Application
Skill Boost
After completing this module, participants will be able to recognize life-threatening bleeding, demonstrate how to control life-threatening bleeding using direct pressure, demonstrate how to control life-threatening bleeding using a manufactured tourniquet, demonstrate how to control life-threatening bleeding with wound packing.
Opioid Overdose and Naloxone Administration
Skill Boost
After completing this module, participants will be able to describe an opioid overdose, apply the emergency action steps to an opioid overdose, demonstrate how to administer naloxone using a nasal spray or nasal atomizer.
